Saturday Scores: Three series to go the distance

Topeka 4 @ Dallas 1 (Best of three series tied 1-1) – Topeka ties up the series in game 2 with a 4-1 victory over Dallas. Hardijs Kupaks gets the first goal of the night for Topeka on a power play goal. Getting assists on the play are Blake Busch and Seth Kamrass. Topeka then goes up 2-0 on a goal scored by Alex Sauer with an assist from Ostapchuk. In the 2nd, Topeka gets on the board again with a goal from Blake Busch with assists from Sauer and Ostapchuk. Dallas manages to grab its one and only goal of the night halfway through the 2nd. Jon Gibson scored the goal with assists coming from McIntyre and South. Topeka gets an empty netter in the 3rd period to put the game away. Mike McElroy gets the win with 10 saves. Boxscore

Peoria 3 @ St. Louis 4 (Best of three series tied 1-1) – St. Louis gets the win in game 2 to tie the series up at one a piece. St. Louis gets on the board first with a power play goal from Tommy Heinzman, Mike Lozano and Adam Roeder get the assists on the play. St. Louis adds a second goal shortly after from Simon Koscielski. Sam Turner gets Peoria’s first goal of the night to close the lead back to one. Then Peoria’s Austin Wisely ties it up halfway through the first period with assists from Murphy and Chasteen. In the 2nd period St. Louis tacks on another 2 goals from Tommy Heinzman and Alex Klaesner to take the lead. In the 3rd period, Peoria’s Andrew Scofield gets a power play go to cut the lead back to one but it wasn’t enough. Cooper Cothran gets the win in net with 29 saves. Boxscore

North Iowa 2 @ Granite City 4 (Best of three series tied 1-1) – Scott Murrray gets the win in net for Granite City and brings the series back to even. Granite City starts the scoring off early with a goal from Luke Richardson with an assist from Brett Love. North Iowa counters shortly after with a goal from Sam Naegele with an assist from Austin Jackson. In the 2nd period, North Iowa’s Matt Kroska scores to give them the lead with an assist from Marenis. Granite City comes back with a goal five minutes later from Taylor Brown to bring it back to even. Aidan Verbeke gets the go ahead goal for Granite City with assists coming from Mohs and Bernhardson. In the 3rd period Granite City puts the game away with a goal from Roy Grandov. The attendance for tonight’s showdown was 1,125. Boxscore
