Ducks earn local community service award
November 17, 2017

The NA3HL's Point Mallard Ducks were presented with the Distinguished Community Service Award by the Morgan County (Alabama) Special Olympics.
Skylar Cooley, the Special Olympics director for Morgan County, had this to say: “Tom Winkler and the Point Mallard Ducks team are a huge part of the Morgan County Special Olympics family. This year they participated in numerous Special Olympic events including, but not limited to, the first ever basketball Skills Competition at Fort Decatur Recreation Center and the annual Regional Aquatics Competition at the Aquadome Pool.
"At every event they are involved and extremely helpful, doing whatever is asked of them and always willing to go the extra mile. Tom has also allowed Special Olympics to use his home games as fundraiser events for our trip to State Games at Troy University for two years in a row now. We are working on the 2018 calendar and The Ducks have already made it clear that they will be there for whatever we might need! They received the Distinguished Community Service Award at this year’s Special Olympics Awards Ceremony and it could not have gone to a better deserving group of young men. Thank you to do the Ducks for all they do for Morgan County Special Olympics.”
