Drillers forward Bawcom makes college commitment

The Louisiana Drillers of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Skylar Bawcom has committed to play college hockey for the University of Oklahoma.
Bawcom, 20, spent two seasons in the NA3HL with a variety of clubs but most recently, the Louisiana Drillers where he was acquired at the trade deadline from the Texas RoadRunners. A native of Rockwall, TX, Bawcom was a consistent offensive threat throughout his time in the league, averaging over a point per game and finishing with 98 points (46 goals, 52 assists).
The 2024-25 season proved to be a breakout year for Bawcom. He posted 41 points (24 goals, 17 assists) in 32 games with the RoadRunners, including 11 power-play goals. With Texas falling out of playoff contention, Louisiana added Bawcom at the deadline, and he continued his strong play, adding 20 points in just 12 regular-season games with the Drillers.
During Louisiana’s quest for the Cup, the ‘04 forward played a vital role in the Drillers capturing their first Fraser Cup in franchise history. Bawcom racked up 7 points in the postseason, including four points in St. Louis, highlighted by a goal and an assist in the Championship game.
Before joining the junior ranks, Bawcom spent three seasons in the NAPHL, skating with the Dallas Penguins and Texas Tigers at the 16U and 18U levels. Over 28 games, he recorded 28 points.
Bawcom is the first player from the Drillers to make a college commitment this season.
